Company
Profile
At
the end of the 19th century Walter Edward Scott founded a plumbing
business, carrying out work on water mains, general plumbing, bell pushes and
gas mantles.
Today the business is
still family owned by the Scott’s (third generation) but it is a far cry from
the original plumbing firm. With
the advent of modern technology, over the past 30 years the company has
diversified its interests to include all kinds of heating, (Natural gas and LPG
as well as oil) ventilation, air conditioning, plumbing and mechanical
engineering. Expansion has not
meant any lowering of the high standards of workmanship for which W. E. Scott
and Sons Limited has always been well known and respected in Lincolnshire.
The family business
grew steadily until the 1960’s when it changed over from the domestic field to
the industrial and commercial market. From
then on expansion rapidly escalated and it became necessary to move to its
present premises in Mount Pleasant in Louth, where there was ample room for the
large stockrooms and workshop. The
premises also house the offices which are now computerised.
With a present staff of 10 including 3 working directors – Martin
Scott, John Scott and Sylvia Scott the business runs on well oiled wheels.
Although W. E. Scott
and Sons Limited is a national company, the
bulk of it’s clients are in the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire regions.
A medium sized business which gives first class and very personal service
to all it’s clients, the tightly knit management team is backed up by a
skilled and dedicated workforce.
The company also use
selected sub-contractors when necessary. This
policy allows the company to appoint specific sub-contractors, known for their
expertise and quality in certain areas, for specific tasks.
This broadens the scope of the company whilst retaining its reputation
for quality and service.
Members of the HVCA
for a number of years, the company can boast a wide depth of experience, gained
from both practical involvement and qualifications achieved.
Training of the staff consists of some in house training, but in recent
years a raft of legislation has required much out of house training.
This has included gas qualification in the Domestic and Commercial
fields.
Health and Safety is also
important to the company who have the services of a qualified Health and Safety
consultant who visits the company on a regular basis for discussions and
guidance. This has also led to training on various access equipment including
mobile towers, scissor lifts and self propelled booms.
Having worked in many
factories and offices throughout the UK, it is the general policy of the company
today to attempt to achieve contracts within daily travelling distance of the
works – about 100 miles radius. However
W. E. Scott and Sons Limited do accept contracts outside these limits in some
instances.
Recent projects
include the conversion of The Sub Deanery at Lincoln, Jacksons Workwear in
Lincoln, Brigg Garden Centre, Fair Gardens Garden Centre, Anglian Water
Authority and the New Home for the Disabled in the Louth Area.
We were also responsible for the gas mains, heating, ventilation, air
conditioning and filtration facilities for the Fenland Laundries factory on the
Louth Industrial Estate. Honda UK
Ltd, Arrow Glazing and Allinson Print Limited, all on the industrial estate at
Louth, have also used the services of this Louth based company.
The
company prides itself on its ability to design, supply, install and maintain
complete systems ranging from single heaters to multi operational systems with
integrated controls – each contract receiving the benefit of the expertise
gained by the vast experience in the above fields by W. E. Scott and Sons
Limited.
If asked about the
success of the company the directors firmly believe that as a medium sized
company they can respond to client’s demands promptly and change with the
market trends. They pride
themselves on being flexible and looking after clients on a very personal level.
Their work is so diverse that they have to be adaptable.
Basically
W. E. Scott and Sons Limited are installation and service engineers who can
tackle anything within the spheres already mentioned.
The work is changing all the time. The
way forward is to continue to change with the times.
